Polymer Glock 17 - Let's go ahead and get this out of the way. If you are reading this to see if the Polymer 80 Glock is easy to make then I will answer for you now. Yes it is. It's easy to do, and I believe anyone can do it. Polymer 80 Glocks are easy to make and the one I'm reviewing right now was made with a small 80 jig, a Dremel, and a hand drill. It took me a few hours, some sand but now it runs like a champ. If you are on a wall just put it down and do it.
Now that we've gotten a few negative thoughts out of the way let's go ahead and talk about the Polymer 80 Glock that I built and did a quick review. The PF940V2 is the perfect design that uses a Glock 17, 22, 34, 24, 35, 31, or 17L slide. Most of us will be building a Glock 17 or 34. I went with the 17. For sale now at Rockey Brass!

Polymer 80 Glocks use Gen 3 parts, which are common and easy to find. I went with a Glock 17 slide that features a Larry Vickers special, a Bear Creek barrel, and Glock OEM lower parts. The Glock kit also includes extended magazine releases and a slide lock.

I find the Poly 80 frame superior to the OEM Glock frame in many ways. It doesn't have fingers, which is great. It uses the 1911's 19-degree grip angle instead of the Glock's 22-degree grip, which is comfortable and natural to me. The rail is a real Picatinny rail instead of the oddball Glock rail. The back of the gun also has a beavertail that you don't get with OEM Glock frames. The PF940V2 is basically an American Glock.
As you know, America does well. All these changes make the Glock more stable and easier to handle. The Polymer80 handle part is a little disappointing for me, but it's acceptable. It seems natural, but if you've been after a Glock for years it might not make sense to you.
One thing I like about the Polymer80 Glock is the beavertail extension. The only problem I have with Glocks is the slide bite. If I held the gun properly and kept the slide, it would bite me around and break the skin. Polymer Film 80 does not provide the same bite. The added beavertail protects you from this, as well as giving you more control over lip placement.
Once you have the gun running reliably you won't notice much of a difference in accuracy with the polymer 80. Often the frame affects accuracy. It makes the gun easier to shoot and easier to control. I think the Polymer 80 answers many of the criticisms that the Glock receives. Even Glock removed the finger grips from the newer generations of Glock handguns.

Down to the non-standard process is advertising. It loses compatibility with many different holsters, and different frame materials. Some internal like factors will be consistent. However, accessories like magwell will not be enough.
Another disadvantage is reliability. You have to ask yourself how confident are you in your skills as a sniper? I personally don't. I will never use my Polymer80 Glock as a self defense gun unless I have to. Although I have not experienced any reliability issues I prefer the Glock OEM pistol for self defense use. The good news is that you can buy a complete Poly 80 frame but that will require an FFL pickup on all the parts you will need to build the gun.
Polymer80 Glock is a fun project, and it allows you to design your own gun. For me, this is just a job. For some, this may be an easy way to legally own a gun. With many state laws making it harder and harder to buy a handgun, building your own may be your only option. If you're 21 you can't buy a gun at a gun store, but there's no federal law that prevents you from making your own. Yes, check your country's laws.
